Milan is one of those cities that has something for everyone - the culture, couture or even the football! Milan is easily accessible from both Malpensa and Linate, and flight time is just under two hours from London airports. Below are a few suggestions for the perfect late spring city break.

 Where to Stay:

The Westin Palace is centrally located, and a great hotel for business or pleasure. The Hotel has over 200 rooms and 29 suites, all featuring “Heavenlybed” beds to guarantee the perfect night’s sleep, and “Heavenlyshower” showers promising the best hydrotherapy massage shower on the market! The rooms are tranquil with cool pastel interiors, and there is an on-site wellness centre, offering a range of spa treatments for men and women. The hotel has it’s very own award winning restaurant run by Head Chef Augusto Tomolata, with a focus on traditional Italian cuisine.

 What to See:

Milan, like many European cities is best explored on foot. However, as the second largest city in Italy, this is not always possible. Public transport links are good, and taxis can be very expensive and only really worth it when heading out of the city centre. These are my suggestions:

Santa Maria Delle Grazie: Home to Leonardo Da Vinci’s “The Last Supper”This is a church, convent and very popular tourism destination. Like the Mona Lisa at The Louvre, a renaissance masterpiece not to be missed.
Duomo Di Milano : Milan Cathedral- a stunning example of Gothic architecture (although Oscar Wilde thought it was hideous!), which is centrally located and also the fourth largest Cathedral in the world. A number of tours are run daily and, if you brave the many steps, the rooftop views take in all of Milan.

Stadio Guiseppe Meazza: Home to two of the biggest football teams in the world, AC and Inter Milan. Tours of the stadium are run throughout the year and it is possible to obtain tickets to matches during the season with some planning!

Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II : The most beautiful two storey shopping mall that I have ever seen! Designer fashion and Italian boutiques all under one stunning glass roof, along with a range of cafes and Gelaterias to enjoy. The Galleria also backs on the Cathedral Square, where additional cafes and street artists can be found.

 Getting There:

Fly British Airways Business (club) Class Heathrow to Maplensa from £520 per person. A great experience on arrival at Terminal 5 and superb in-flight service.
