Lifestyle Article - Actuary Scott Binnie joins Barnett Waddingham

To support continued business growth in Scotland, Barnett Waddingham, a leading independent UK professional services consultancy, has brought in two additional specialists to work with a growing client base across a number of disciplines.

The appointment of David Collington and Scott Binnie to the Glasgow office are a direct result of continued strong growth and client demand specifically in Scotland.

David joins Barnett Waddingham from Capita Employee Benefits where he spent 14 years in various roles including Head of Operations (Benefits Strategy) and Director (Key Accounts). He has significant experience in employee benefit strategy, online and flexible benefits, health and risk consultancy and wellbeing consultancy across companies of all sizes – from a few hundred employees to FTSE 100. He will be leading an award winning team on benefits consulting nationwide.

Scott has over 20 years’ experience in the industry, having previously been at Mercer in Edinburgh. He has extensive experience in guiding clients through negotiations on pension scheme funding, liaising with the Pensions Regulator on complex funding challenges and transferring risk. He will be providing advice to trustees and sponsors of pension schemes on all aspects of running their schemes.

David Collington, Head of Benefits Consultancy and Associate at Barnett Waddingham, said; “I firmly believe that every single employer should have a benefits strategy, a clear and well considered approach to choosing, communicating and reviewing the range of benefits they offer to employees.

“At a time of significant growth, Barnett Waddingham values the individual needs of our growing client base and provides consultancy services with a purpose. We support clients with their benefits strategy and how they can meet the wellbeing needs of their people.”

Scott Binnie, Actuary and Principal at Barnett Waddingham, said; “Our goal as actuaries is to provide trustees with a pragmatic, positive recommendation that does not sit on the fence. It continues to be a challenging time for pension scheme trustees as uncertainty grows across the industry.

“I have worked with a range of clients developing long-term funding targets and implementing innovative solutions. Barnett Waddingham puts the needs of our clients first and provides unique, high-quality services to suit their specific aims and I’m already enjoying working with our clients from the Glasgow office.”

Barbara Fewkes, Partner at Barnett Waddingham, said; “David and Scott join us as client and prospect demand increases across numerous areas of expertise in our Glasgow office and Scotland more generally. Their appointments give us the ability to continue to develop our services and offer additional resources to this growing client base.

“Both are exceptionally experienced in their fields and have a great rapport with those within the industry. David’s expertise will play an integral part in the delivery of consulting services such as wellbeing, group risk, healthcare and reward strategy.
