Lifestyle Article - Andrew Marcell appointed CEO of Aon Reinsurance Solutions

Aon announce that Andrew Marcell has been appointed Chief Executive Officer of Reinsurance Solutions, effective immediately. In his new role, Andrew will be responsible for managing the existing operations and growth strategy of Aon’s Reinsurance Solutions business as it begins its brand transition from Aon Benfield. Based in New York, he will continue to report to Eric Andersen, co-President of Aon plc.

Andrew joined Aon in 2015 as Head of Strategy for Aon Benfield, where he developed innovative ways to grow the business across its existing client base, and implemented a range of strategies to attract new clients to the firm. He was appointed President of Aon Benfield in 2017, taking on a wider executive role to support ongoing growth strategies.

Eric Andersen, co-President of Aon, commented: “After joining our firm three years ago, Andy has performed varied roles that have given him an in-depth understanding of Aon’s Reinsurance Solutions business. He has successfully identified key growth initiatives and implemented strategies that will allow us to achieve profitable growth in a sector with challenging market dynamics. We are pleased that Andy agreed to take on this new position, and we are excited to have him leading the business. He will provide strong leadership and brings an international perspective to the role as we continue to grow.”

Prior to joining Aon Benfield in August 2015, Andy was CEO of Guy Carpenter’s US Operations and head of its Global Facultative business. He was also a member of their Board of Managers and the International Leadership Team. Andy joined its London office in 1990 from Hoare Govett in London, where he was a Convertible Equity Trader.

Andrew Marcell, Chief Executive Officer of Aon’s Reinsurance Solutions business, added: “I look forward to taking on this broader role and it is a privilege to lead such a well-respected and outstanding business. It is an exciting time at Aon as we further align the firm to ensure we deliver the best of Aon to our clients and colleagues.”

Aon announced in May 2018 it will retire the business unit brands of Aon Benfield and Aon Risk Solutions, which follows the retirement of the Aon Hewitt business unit brand in 2017. This move was designed to increase the rate of innovation across the firm and make it easier for colleagues to work together to bring the best of Aon to clients. Aon has five specific global solution lines: Commercial Risk Solutions, Reinsurance Solutions, Retirement Solutions, Health Solutions and Data & Analytic Services.
