General Insurance Article - Arista bolsters underwriting operations with appointment

Commercial lines underwriting specialist Arista Insurance has appointed Mick Hunter as development underwriter to its St Albans office.

His appointment is part of Arista’s strategic aspiration to base underwriters even closer to brokers than its regional offices allow and provide a more responsive local commercial underwriting service to their brokers. Mick will be focused on servicing brokers in the Home Counties and North London, working from their offices where appropriate.

Reporting to regional manager Sean Field, Mick will be responsible for developing all opportunities across this area as well as underwriting all property and liability classes. Mick brings 23 years experience to the role having previously spent five years at Brit Insurance as business development manager. Prior to that Mick worked at RSA for 18 years in various senior underwriting and development roles.

Commenting on the appointment chief executive Charles Earle said: “Arista is recruiting underwriters in specific areas of the UK to work even closer to and with brokers. The Home Counties and North London is one such area and Mick has been chosen specifically for his knowledge of the area, his existing and potential relationships with brokers and underwriting expertise to grow Arista’s penetration in this region. Mick comes with a great pedigree, is well known and respected by brokers across the East and South East of England and is a very strong addition to the team.”
