Investment - Articles - AXA IM appoints Daoyu Chen as UK LDI Portfolio Manager

AXA Investment Managers (AXA IM) continues to strengthen its Liability Driven Investments (LDI) proposition for UK pension schemes with the appointment of Daoyu Chen as UK LDI Portfolio Manager.

Daoyu will be responsible for managing portfolios within AXA IM’s UK LDI team, which provides bespoke and segregated LDI solutions as well as LDI pooled funds. She reports to Rodrigo Ostik, Head of UK LDI Portfolio Management.

Daoyu joins AXA IM from Goldman Sachs where she traded Sterling interest rate swaps and cross currency swaps for over five years, during which she was responsible for market making and managing trading positions. Daoyu holds an MA in Economics from Cambridge University.

Jonathan Crowther, Head of UK LDI at AXA IM commented: “Pension schemes are increasingly looking for flexible and more efficient hedge implementation and management. Derivatives continue to play an important role in LDI strategies, facilitating cost effective hedging and improved liability matching. In addition, changes in the outlook for interest rate and inflation markets, along with political and monetary policy decisions will continue to influence hedging decisions. Daoyu’s experience of trading these instruments and operating in these markets enhances our ability to offer clients high quality liability risk management solutions.”

Daoyu’s appointment follows that of Robert Price in April 2014 as Solutions Strategist in AXA IM’s UK LDI team. AXA IM rolled out its UK LDI capability in Autumn 2012, drawing on its extensive heritage in actively managing asset liability solutions for AXA Group and institutional investors throughout continental Europe. AXA IM currently manages in excess of £5.7billion in its LDI strategies globally.
