Pensions - Articles - B&CE Chief Executive Succession

B&CE, the workplace pensions and benefits provider to 1.6 million people in the UK, today announces the intention of Brian Griffiths, Chief Executive Officer, to retire from B&CE at the end of September 2012. Brian has led the organisation for the past 10 years, recently overseeing the launch of B&CE’s solution to automatic enrolment, The People’s Pension.

The Right Honourable Sir John Chilcot GCB, Chairman of B&CE said: “Brian has led and developed B&CE for the last 10 years through challenging times within the financial services industry. Today we are announcing a successor to the role of Chief Executive Officer to enable a smooth transition, ensuring that momentum for the business is maintained at this crucial time, together with management continuity.”

The Board undertook a thorough process of evaluating both internal and external candidates to find a suitable successor. Patrick Heath-Lay, who currently holds the position of B&CE’s Director of Finance & Strategic Delivery, will be appointed Chief Executive Officer with effect from 1 October 2012.

Sir John continues: “We are delighted to announce Patrick as successor and the Board congratulates him on this appointment. The Directors and myself are confident in the future growth of B&CE under Patrick’s leadership.”

Since joining B&CE in 1985, Patrick has been instrumental in driving the business forward and shaping the group’s strategy as a whole.
