B&CE, provider of The People’s Pension, is pleased to announce that Nico Aspinall has joined the company as its Chief Investment Officer.

Nico has been appointed to lead the investment management team to support the Board and Trustees in driving investment strategy during a period of expected rapid growth in funds under management.

Nico has a wealth of DC investment experience and prior to joining us he provided consultancy services for a number of high profile clients. Before embarking on his consultancy work, Nico spent four years as Head of DC investment consulting for Willis Towers Watson UK where he was responsible for the investment proposition of LifeSight.

Prior to this, he was Head of DC and Communications for the Barclays Bank UK Retirement Fund.

Speaking about his new role, Nico said: I am delighted to be joining B&CE, which offers the rare opportunity of working in a not-for-profit environment, to influence the shape of the DC industry, and all dedicated to the benefit of millions of members. I am very excited to be responsible for the investment proposition both within The People’s Pension and across the other asset pools within B&CE.”

Commenting on Nico’s appointment, Patrick Heath-Lay, CEO at B&CE says: We are thrilled that Nico will be joining us. He brings with him impressive experience of creating and implementing investment strategies within the DC market, which will allow B&CE and The People’s Pension, to maximise the effectiveness of our assets and crucially, improve investment outcomes for the group and its members.”
