Vishal Makkar, Head of Retirement Consulting at Buck comments on the latest Pensions Dashboard news

“The Pensions Dashboard has been a long time coming, but it’s important that the momentum necessary to deliver it is not lost. The news today that the Government will be committing to a legislative framework to compel schemes and pension providers to deliver all the information needed to make the dashboard a reality is particularly welcome. For this project to be a true success, the pensions industry must work collaboratively to ensure people have access to all the data they need to plan for their retirement. Whatever their final form, these dashboards must be able to meet the needs of the people they are meant to help the most - pension scheme members.

“However, following a long period without any pensions legislation due to politicians’ heads being turned by an all-encompassing Brexit agenda, this new bill clearly does not include everything the industry has been calling for. And indeed, Brexit will continue to loom large in the coming weeks and months, meaning we will have to wait and see whether this pensions bill, or any other legislation announced today, will come into force.”
