Lifestyle Article - Cardano strengthens DC offering with two new appointments


Cardano have announced two senior appointments in its Defined Contribution (DC) team.

 David Bird joins as Head of DC Platform, a newly created role within Cardano, on 1 June 2020. Cardano also announces the appointment of Stefan Lundbergh as Head of DC Design for the Group. 

 In his new role, David will lead the continued development of Cardano’s DC offering which advises single employer schemes, particularly those of a certain size or with specific requirements. He will advise trustees on investment and risk management approaches to deliver robust and stable results for members. David and Stefan will also be working closely with NOW: Pensions, Cardano’s Master Trust.

 David has over 30 years’ experience in financial services and joins Cardano from Willis Towers Watson, where he was responsible for the LifeSight DC Master Trust, a leading product in its market. David has been at Willis Towers Watson for over 21 years. He has accumulated lots of experience consulting across a wide range of clients and projects including pension change, responding to tax and other legislative change and de-risking.

 Stefan Lundbergh is currently Director of Cardano Insights, its highly regarded research department, and is considered one of the preeminent thought leaders in Europe with regards to Pension Design. Until recently, Stefan was a non-executive board member of the Fourth Swedish National Pension Fund (AP4). In the summer of 2017, he headed the review of the Swedish premium pension system. Stefan has held various positions at Algemene Pensioen Groep (APG) in the Netherlands and Skandia Life Insurance Company in Sweden. He holds a PhD from Stockholm School of Economics.
