Lifestyle Article - Cartwright appoints Stephen Carey as Scheme Actuary

Cartwright, the pension specialist for defined benefit and hybrid schemes, today announced the appointment of Stephen Carey as Scheme Actuary. Based at the firm’s Godalming office, Stephen will take on a portfolio of small to medium schemes, as well as provide support to the existing actuarial team.

Commenting on the appointment Jonathan Seed, Head of Pensions Strategy at Cartwright, said: “We continue to attract a stream of incoming opportunities from schemes who understand the importance of first-class service and proactive advice. At Cartwright we pride ourselves on resourcing ahead, so we continually invest in the best people to join our growing team and ensure we continue to deliver a first class service to all of our clients. In his previous roles Stephen has dealt with trustees across the spectrum of small to medium schemes so brings valuable knowledge and experience. He has also worked with corporate clients on liability management and year end accounting services giving him a real top-down view. We welcome him to the team.”

Carey added: “What appealed to me most about Cartwright was the culture and ethos of the organisation, alongside their client focused approach. There are not many firms in the market that can claim to be truly independent and have such a mix of longevity and expertise among the team. This kind of diverse and creative environment gives a unique approach to thinking, ensuring client issues are tackled from all angles, giving a truly bespoke service.”

Stephen has 13 years in the pensions industry, holding roles at both AON and Premier Pensions Management, from where he joins. He is Fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries.
