Lifestyle Article - Chubb announces two senior appointments

Chubb today announced two new senior management positions in the UK and Ireland, as the company evolves its structure to serve the future insurance and risk management needs of brokers and clients in the region.

Sara Mitchell, Vice President, Speciality Personal Lines, Europe, Eurasia & Africa and Asia Pacific, will serve as the Head of Corporate Division for UK and Ireland. In this newly created role, Sara will be responsible for Chubb’s middle market segment strategy, with additional responsibility for sales and distribution, underwriting centres and product development.

Sara will be one of three leaders overseeing the company’s core retail property and casualty (P&C) customer segments. She joins Suresh Krishnan, recently announced as Head of Global Accounts Division for Europe, responsible for its global and large account segment and Ruth Polyblank, Head of SME in the UK and Ireland, responsible for the company’s small and medium-sized business segment.

Sara has 15 years of insurance industry experience. Since she joined Chubb in 2011, Sara has successfully managed the company’s fast-growing international mobile device protection business. In addition to her experience in specialty personal lines, Sara also has extensive commercial market experience gained at RSA, where she worked for five years before joining Chubb, including having responsibility for SME commercial schemes.

Mark Roberts, currently UK and Ireland Casualty Manager, will serve as Property and Casualty (P&C) Chief Underwriting Officer for UK and Ireland. In this newly created role, Mark will oversee the strategy for all P&C product lines in the region, working with the segment heads. Mark will also set product guidelines and have technical oversight for product development, develop underwriting-related business intelligence and ensure that Chubb’s underwriting guidelines are followed. All P&C product line heads in the UK and Ireland will report to Mark.

Mark has more than 20 years of insurance industry experience, including 18 with Chubb. He joined the company in 1999 as Multinational Casualty Underwriter and since then he has held a number of increasingly senior casualty underwriting and management roles.
Mark and Sara will continue to be based in London, reporting to David Robinson, Division President for Chubb in the UK and Ireland. Their appointment is effective immediately.

David Robinson, Division President for Chubb in the UK and Ireland, said: “Sara has a stellar track record of managing a growing, international business and P&L. Her appointment underlines our commitment of taking a customer-centric approach right across our business, and the importance of smart segmentation in the middle market to meet customer needs and deliver growth. With three dedicated leaders in place, our leadership team is now better placed than ever to serve our core corporate, global accounts and SME customers.

“Mark’s is a well-deserved promotion for an insurance professional widely known and respected in the market, and one that will ensure our P&C offering meets our brokers and clients’ evolving needs. I am delighted that Mark and Sara are joining our senior management team and look forward to working with them in their new roles.”
