The Co-op Insurance Chatbot gives users a sneak peek into how much they could expect to pay for their car insurance in as little as 30 seconds, before completing the full quote on the Co-op Insurance website.
Visitors can receive an instant car insurance estimate 24/7 via Facebook Messenger, a digital messaging platform used by 1.2 billion Facebook users. All the user has to do is simply answer four quick questions relating to their age, location, who will be driving the car and value of the vehicle to be insured.
Co-op’s messenger bot then compares this information against their database of customers from the previous year. This information is then used to calculate an average of what people who fall within the same categories pay for their car insurance direct from Co-op Insurance, excluding any optional extras.
Charles Offord, Director of Distribution and Marketing for Co-op Insurance commented: “In order to keep up with changing consumer behaviours we cannot afford to shy away from digital innovation and creating the Co-op Insurance Chatbot is one of the ways in which we’re hoping to do just that.
“The bot will be able to give people an estimate quote based on what we’ve provided like-minded people previously and customers are then free to progress to our site and purchase a policy.
“Customers want quick and easy access to information without compromising on customer service and we’re confident that through our Chatbot we can be there for our customers at a time that best suits them and their busy lifestyles, whilst freeing up more time for our contact centres to speak to customers who prefer a more traditional means of communication.
“We’re thrilled to be trialling the Co-op Insurance Chatbot, a first for the motor insurance industry and will continue to look at new ways in which we can innovate within the sector.”
