General Insurance Article - Ecclesiastical awarded Chartered Insurer Status

Specialist insurance group Ecclesiastical has announced that its UK operations have been awarded ‘Chartered Insurer’ status by the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII). Ecclesiastical is one of a select few insurers whose entire UK operations have been awarded the prestigious accreditation.

Chartered status is widely recognised by the public as a kitemark for trust and quality and carries a strong reputation in the UK and abroad. In order to qualify for the accreditation, Ecclesiastical underwent a thorough examination of its learning and development processes and practice. It also had to clearly demonstrate a sustained company-wide commitment to developing and raising the standards of professional knowledge, customer service and ethical practice for the benefit of its customers.

Commenting on the award, Ecclesiastical’s Group CEO Mark Hews said “This is a fantastic achievement for the whole company. It is all the more valuable because this accolade isn’t handed out lightly by the CII and requires true long-term commitment to rigorous standards. At Ecclesiastical, we believe only true professionals with a strong ethical compass can offer our customers the best service in the market, so we make every effort to continuously develop our people’s professionalism and skills.

It is clear that at a time when public trust in financial services is at an all-time low, we must work harder than ever before to rebuild that trust and show our customers that they can expect the highest quality of service from us. Achieving the CII chartered status is one way of demonstrating our commitment to quality service, ethical practice and always doing right by our customers.

Having achieved this important accreditation, the next step for us now will be to look at how we can take our staff development practices and customer service to the next level. I believe it is no longer enough for insurers to simply aim to meet our customers’ expectations. In order to significantly change our customers’ perception of our industry, we need to seek to exceed their expectations on a regular basis.”

Dr Sandy Scott, CEO of the CII, comments “Corporate Chartered status demonstrates an insurer’s professional commitment to raising standards of knowledge, capability and ethical practice. It tells their customers that they can expect the highest quality of service.

We are delighted that Ecclesiastical has chosen to embrace the challenge of becoming a Chartered Insurer, across all UK operations. Genuine professionalism has never been so valued– or so necessary.”
