Yorkshire-based Engage Mutual has strengthened its board with the appointment of Nigel Masters as non-executive director.

Masters will share the experience and expertise gained from some 38 years working in the financial sector.

Currently director at NMActuarial, he has held senior roles at a number of financial organisations, including Group Chief Life Actuary for Zurich Financial Services, and Partner in the actuarial consulting practice at PricewaterhouseCoopers.

As President of the Institute of Actuaries, Masters oversaw its successful merger with the Faculty of Actuaries in Scotland in 2010.

Speaking of his appointment, he said:

"This is an exciting time to be joining what is a growing and thriving organisation. I am already impressed by the positive culture and level of ambition in the business and look forward to playing a positive role as Engage Mutual looks to expand its products and services for its members."

Chairman of Engage Mutual, David Robinson added:

"It is a real pleasure to welcome Nigel to the Board. His experience and insights will be invaluable for Engage Mutual as we embark on the next phase of our development."
