 Other background info

An excellent tactician and strategist who is able to keep many steps ahead of his opponents. Accomplished gymnast and acrobatic and a master of many martial arts.

Since age 15, a strict diet has enabled his body to develop perfectly, supplemented by biofeedback treatments.

In his personal life he never expected to be happy but Andrea Beaumont (Batman Mask of the Phantasm) was closest to being his ‘true love’. They were engaged, but she then left him and descended into darkness, adopting the costumed vigilante guise of the Phantasm!

 Assessment of life expectancy

Based on our investigations the key impacts on Batman's life expectancy are probably the one’s we know least about. However we know he's only 40, doesn’t drink and we'll also assume that he doesn't smoke. He's also very intelligent, keeps fit and there appears to be no hereditary illnesses.

However, there is evidence to suggest he’s been exposed to radiation and psychoactive toxic chemicals. Despite his incredible fitness by the time he's 50 we'll assume he will retire as he’ll inevitably start losing fights, leaving Robin to take on the mantle.

On that basis we've also assumed that he'll take up a more sedentary consultative role, perhaps advising commissioner Gordon. And as he gets older, being super wealthy means he’ll have access to the best private medical care.

He's single, which will count against him living a longer plus he is also still not over Andrea Beaumont, the only women that ever really counted.

So assuming he hangs his boots up and assuming he's not irradiated, we would estimate that he'll live to at least age 90, which is our forecast for average life expectancy. However, he could also easily live to 95 based on the fact that he's smart, fit and wealthy and at some point likely to meet the ‘right woman'.

However, we couldn't say he'll be a centenarian, (100+) or supercentenarian, (110+) as he already has some health and lifestyle factors that would have an impact based on the nature of his ‘superhero’ occupation. There are definitely other lifestyle issues that we know nothing about, that would again have an impact.

There is also the possibility that with all his wealth he might decide to be cryogenically frozen. A process he is very familiar with through his encounter with Mr. Freeze, the rogue scientist who inadvertently spilt cryogenic chemicals on himself and then needed subzero temperatures to survive. So although technically dead when frozen, he may at sometime in the future, be resurrected for a sequel. Batman forever!
