Life - Articles - Friends Life appoints Neil Robjohns as Head of Longevity


 Friends Life has announced the appointment of Neil Robjohns to the role of Head of Longevity, reporting directly to David Still, Managing Director Retirement Income.

 Neil brings with him over 20 years of experience of modelling and managing demographic risks in relation to protection insurance, longevity and pensions business. He joins from Barnett Waddingham LLP where he provided specialist support through longevity related advice, tools and research, and played a significant role in the development of the CMI Mortality Projections Model, a widely-used benchmark in the life assurance and pensions industries. Neil was previously Head of Pricing at Munich Re. 

 Friends Life is continuing to enhance its retirement offering and Neil will contribute to the development of market-leading pricing and risk-management techniques. Neil will take up his new role in June 2013 and joins the management team of Friends Life’s retirement income business. 

 David Still, Retirement Income Managing Director, said: “I’m delighted to welcome Neil to Friends Life and look forward to working closely with him to continue the development of the strong risk management capability we have established to support our annuity business. Neil brings a wealth of industry experience that I’m sure will be invaluable in helping us build a substantial retirement income business that provides market leading support for our customers as they approach retirement.” 

 Neil Robjohns commented: “I am joining Friends Life at a very exciting time as the company continues to make significant developments in the retirement income market. I look forward to joining an existing team of experts and playing a fundamental role in helping the company to push forward with the enhancements to its offering.”

 As a qualified actuary, Neil frequently contributes to actuarial profession conferences, working groups and papers and co-authored the landmark paper ‘Longevity in the 21st Century’.
