General Insurance Article - Hiscox recruits Nick Waddell to lead General Liability

Hiscox London Market has appointed Nick Waddell as General Liability Line Underwriter; establishing Hiscox’s first ever stand-alone general liability team as the business seeks to take advantage of a London market resurgence in US general liability risks.

Reporting to Neil Bolton, Hiscox London Market’s Head of Casualty, Nick Waddell joins from Catlin where he was Senior Class Underwriter for their general liability account. Prior to Catlin, he worked for reinsurance broker RK Carvill focusing mainly on US casualty treaty placements and MGA business.

Commenting on the appointment, Neil Bolton said: “As we build our Casualty division, Nick Waddell’s recruitment allows us to establish our first stand-alone general liability team and further expand the range of casualty products we can offer to clients in the US and internationally.”

Nick Waddell added: “London is having a real renaissance in the US general liability arena, offering US clients a viable alternative to local markets and international competitors like Bermuda. I believe Hiscox’s brand strength and reputation for innovation and high quality service will enable us to deliver a competitive advantage as we look to build a strong portfolio of both US and international general liability risks.”
