Investment - Articles - HSBC Global Asset Management strengthens team


 HSBC Global Asset Management has made four new key hires to its Global Macro and Investment Strategy team, led by Philip Poole in London.

 Poole joined Global Asset Management in July 2010 from HSBC Global Research where he was Global Head of Emerging Markets.

 The role of the Macro and Investment Strategy function is to provide economic and strategic research support for the investment teams at HSBC Global Asset Management, which has USD430bn assets under management and is a global leader in emerging markets investment (with more than USD140bn in this asset class). The team is also responsible for providing timely and informative market views to clients, ranging from daily market updates to market alerts and the longer Investment Quarterly (IQ) report.

 Julien Seetharamdoo has been appointed senior economist, investment strategist, based in London. Prior to joining HSBC Global Asset Management he worked as an investment strategist for Coutts Investment Services with a focus on bond markets, and has a total eight years of relevant experience.

 Rabia Bhopal, also based in London, joined as an economist, investment strategist, from Standard & Poor's where she spent 18 months working as an economist. She also spent five years at Lloyds TSB Corporate Markets as an international economist.

 Herve Lievore has been appointed senior economist, investment strategist, based in Hong Kong. He has 12 years of industry experience, spending the past five years as an economist/strategist at Axa Investment Managers. In this role he was responsible for research in commodities, Japan and emerging markets.

 Renee Chen, also based in Hong Kong joined as an economist, investment strategist. Prior to this role, she worked as an economist at Macquarie Capital Securities, Nomura International (Hong Kong) and Citibank Taiwan for nine years, and also had four years of experience in economic policy research at various think tanks.
 The team also consists of Adam Olive and Paras Patel, both of whom are based in London.

 Olive is senior investment strategist. He joined HSBC Global Asset Management in 2008 from HSBC Global Markets where he was Head of Research for an internal hedge fund. He has 23 years of experience as a researcher and fund manager on both the buy and sell sides of the industry.

 Patel joined the Macro and Investment strategy team at HSBC Global Asset Management in October 2010. Prior to that he worked for HSBC Global Research in the global emerging markets team.
