Lifestyle Article - Hymans Robertson appoint new Head of General Insurance

Hymans Robertson have appointed Krish Kistnassamy as Head of General Insurance within its Insurance & Financial Services (IFS) practice. The appointment further adds to the consultancy’s success in growing and broadening the general insurance (GI) services it provides to insurers.

Krish has more than 25 years of general insurance experience at senior levels of industry including 10 years at the Prudential Regulation Authority (PRA). In his new role, Krish will lead and develop Hymans Robertson’s general insurance services including: capital management, risk management, stress testing, exposure management, pricing and underwriting, reserving, asset-liability management, resolution planning and climate. Krish and his team will also provide clients support on the Senior Management Functions of Chief Actuary and Chief Risk Officer as well as Independent Expert services on Part VII transfers.

During the early part of his career, Krish helped build the advisory side of both Benfield and Aon Re. As Aon Re (UK)'s Chief Actuary and co-head of Aon ReSolutions, he developed a strong reputation as a trusted adviser to general insurers globally. From his ten years as sector actuary at the PRA, Krish has developed an intimate understanding of regulatory requirements. During his time at the PRA, he helped set up its GI risk committee, shape its GI supervisory priorities, develop its insurance stress testing framework and coordinate its response to multiple emergencies, while shaping its climate and solvent exit policies for insurers.

Commenting on Krish’s appointment, Emma McWilliam, Global Head of Insurance & Financial Services, Hymans Robertson says: “I am thrilled to welcome Krish to the team. Krish combines technical expertise with commercial acumen and an understanding of the regulatory framework. He is a recognised expert in general insurance matters and a leader with the best interests of our clients at heart. Our IFS team has grown strongly over the last few years and we are delighted to invest in and grow our general insurance practice and offering over the next few years to benefit our general insurance clients."

Commenting on his new role, Krish says: “I am delighted and excited to be joining a firm with the history and breadth of experience of Hymans Robertson. The challenges general insurers face over the next few years will be numerous: whether from geopolitical risk or the unprecedented economic environment to the uncertain impact of climate, while they are likely to remain subject to considerable scrutiny. I am very much looking forward to assisting our clients to manage those risks while making the most of the opportunities the future offers."
