Investment - Articles - Ireland investment manager of the year

Global fund manager Standard Life Investments collected the Investment Manager of the Year award at the Irish Pensions Awards 2012 in Dublin last night.

Standard Life Investments was also shortlisted for the award for Innovation, on the basis of its flagship absolute returns investment strategy, which has returned 8.2% annualised since launch, with volatility of just 6.0% (Source SLI, gross performance from 12/06/2006 to 30/06/21012). The Standard Life Ireland staff pension scheme also won Best Defined Benefit Pension Scheme of the Year.

Jennifer Richards, Head of Ireland and Joint Head of European Business for Standard Life Investments said:

"We are proud to have been active in the Irish market for over 170 years. This is a great win for the whole team and due recognition for their hard work over the past year. The team has been especially focussed on helping to steer investors through these turbulent market conditions, when it is more important than ever to align ourselves with our clients' long term objectives."

"We are proud to have been active in the Irish market for over 170 years. Our local presence ensures that the views and concerns of clients in Ireland are fed back into Standard Life Investments' broader product development and risk management initiatives.

"In particular, our Global Absolute returns Strategies Fund (GARS) has been helping to solve clients' problems by providing long term equity-like returns with lower levels of volatility. The approach that the 27-strong GARS team takes and the fund's excellent performance is clearly resonating with investors and has proved very successful across Europe - we now have over 200 institutional pension clients in Ireland invested in GARS plus thousands of individual Irish pension investors through Standard Life platforms."
