Lifestyle Article - JLT appoints senior investment consultant

JLT Employee Benefits, one of the UK's leading pension and employee benefit consultancies, has appointed Nick Buckland as a Senior Investment Consultant.

 • LGPS Chief Treasury and Pensions Manager joins investment consulting team

Nick joins from Dorset County Council where he was Chief Treasury and Pensions Manager for their pension fund, and also managed a team specifically dealing with pension fund management, investment management, accounting and pensions benefits.

In his new role, Nick will work closely with Kieran Harkin, JLT’s Head of Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) Investment Consulting, to devise strategic, governance and asset pooling solutions as well as advising on the evolving regulatory environment.

To date, Nick has played a key role in the foundation of the Brunel Pension Partnership, the asset pool being implemented in the South-West of England by funds including the Environment Agency Pension Fund and the Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire Pension Funds.

Kieran Harkin, Head of LGPS at JLT Employee Benefits, said: ‘Nick brings a wealth of expertise in the LGPS sector which will complement the existing skills we already have in the investment consulting team. His appointment testifies to our ambition to expand our investment consulting business within the public sector.’

Nick Buckland said: ‘I’m delighted to be joining JLT at what is a very challenging time for all funds within the LGPS. The practical experience I have gained in running the Dorset Fund and within the Brunel Pension Partnership will help to further strengthen and support JLT’s offering to the LGPS.’
