Investment - Articles - LIU Europe strengthens offering with new Hamburg office

Liberty International Underwriters* in Europe (LIU Europe), a member of Liberty Mutual Group, has opened a new office in Hamburg, Germany, to strengthen its position as a competitive, niche player in the region.

LIU Europe has operated in Germany since 2003 and the new Hamburg office will be managed by Senior Directors and Officers Liability Underwriter, Alexander Breig, who will be joined by additional members of staff by the end of the year. This latest move aims to increase LIU Europe’s reach in line with its expansion strategy across Continental Europe.

Wolfgang Weis, LIU executive officer for Northern Europe, commented: “Germany is an important market for LIU Europe, and Hamburg is the metropolitan hub for several technological industries, many of which are export-oriented and thus demand comprehensive insurance solutions. There is a clear need for local experience and knowledge, both of which we can offer.”

Sean Rocks, Chief Executive of LIU Europe, added: “Hamburg is one of the most dynamic economic zones in Europe and the demands of the market there are a natural fit for our product offerings.

“We are confident that our new office there, together with our existing operation in Cologne, will support the distribution of our products and position LIU Europe as a ‘go to’ market for brokers placing large and mid-market commercial risks.”
