Pensions - Articles - Mercer launches UK DC Forum: Enabling Better Outcomes

Mercer has launched its 2013 Defined Contribution (DC) Forum, focused on ‘Enabling Better Outcomes’, which will run in 9 locations across the UK from 4th June 2013. Having recently restructured to form a dedicated DC team, the Forum underlines Mercer’s commitment to achieving better outcomes for members and those involved in DC pension provision.

The interactive Forum aims to stimulate debate, at a time when auto-enrolment implementation is fueling a growing DC market in the UK and employers worldwide are turning to DC. Challenges such as evolving regulation, governance, communication, planning for a solid investment journey to manage risk and return, and setting down clear and realistic objectives for optimum member and employer outcomes will be explored.

Developed from Mercer’s extensive experience working closely with thousands of trustee boards, governance committees and companies, the Forum uses real life case studies and expert analysis to provide trustees, finance directors and HR directors with the opportunity to network and plan for the future of their pension scheme members.

Brian Henderson, UK Head of DC commented, “The Forum will provoke consideration of DC provision in its entirety and not just in the classic silos often used, such as investment or communication. It will allow delegates to assess how effective pension planning should work, when the aim is to achieve better outcomes for all. We plan to open the lid on the strategies needed to make DC schemes work harder to achieve those better outcomes. ”

He added, “Our expert speakers are amongst the most experienced and knowledgeable in the UK pensions industry. I am looking forward to providing our delegates with a real insight into the impact they can make if they approach DC with fresh eyes.”
