Monday 16 to Wednesday 18 May - The Belfry, near Birmingham
This year's conference focuses on how public sector pensions reforms are likely to affect Local Government pensions. The Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) covers 4.6 million people, representing around £132bn worth of assets.
Delegates will hear:
how some private-sector pensions have moved away from a defined-benefit structure;
how to keep staff enrolled in a scheme when their contributions increase, and
whether the consolidation of the LGPS is practical and cost-effective.
Key speakers include:
Lord Hutton, Chair of the Independent Public Service Pensions Commission, on how reforms are likely to hit the LGPS;
Bob Neil MP, Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government, on the relationship between the LGPS and localism;
Chris Bisland, Chamberlain of the City of London Corporation, on how LGPS funds can adapt their investment strategies;
Brian Bailey, Director of Pensions at West Midlands Pension Funds, on the future of the LGPS.
This event is one of the biggest in the Local Authority arena. It attracts around 300 local authority officers, councillors and their advisers.
