What does it do?
Long regarded as a secretive, closed system, Bloomberg took a massive step towards improving communications, innovation and creativity within their mobile device user community when they launched this app in November 2012. With the Bloomberg app you can access to a wealth of business and financial news at the touch of a button.It offers a wealth of financial portfolio tracking tools and access to specialist financial information sources. The app interfaces with several other tools and applications that can be downloaded from the Bloomberg App Portal, enabling users to create a personalised experience.
What’s good about it?
Users have access to all the latest tools and financial resources used by industry professionals and cangain real insight into business matters. As the app can be used on a wide range of mobile devices, it’s accessible to a wide audience. The Bloomberg App Portal that allows users tomodifiy the standard Bloomberg app by adding more specialist resources, of which there are some 45 to choose from, is a real benefit. These tools facilitate data analysis, data display, risk analysis, portfolio management, research, news and valuation and pricing.
What’s bad about it?
This app might become addictive, particularly to those concerned with how their investments are doing on a day-to-day basis. On the usability side, this relatively new app appears to be work in progress, with users continuing to report performance issues including variation in the types of information available in different countries. Jet-setting users should be extra vigilant when using this app.
