Lifestyle Article - Phoenix appoints Chief Data Scientist


Phoenix Group announces the appointment of Diane Berry to the newly created role of Chief Data Scientist. The appointment will consolidate existing data and analytics teams under Diane’s leadership and underpins the firm’s continuing commitment to improve customer outcomes based on superior consumer insights and engagement, which will be the foundation for future growth.

 Diane, with over 25 years of expertise in analytics and technology, will lead a newly formed Data function with responsibility for the development and delivery of Phoenix’s Customer AI and Data Science Strategy. This will include a focus on using cutting-edge technology to inform data science driven decision-making, to help better understand and predict customer behaviours.
 
 Diane joins Phoenix on 1 April 2021 from global consultancy Bain & Company where she built and led a multi-disciplinary advanced analytics team of data engineers, data scientists and operation researchers. She is expert in software engineering and data management, experience built-up in the IT Sector and in roles at Bupa, HSBC and EDF Energy trading merchants.
 
 Diane holds a PhD in Statistics and Epidemiology and an MSc in Statistical Science from UCL, London.
