Pensions - Articles - Richard Farr to join Lincoln Pensions as Managing Director

Lincoln Pensions today announces the appointment of Richard Farr as Managing Director.

Richard will be joining Lincoln Pensions from BDO where he currently leads the pensions advisory business team. During his six years with BDO, Richard provided pensions advice to a range of blue chip clients including Uniq plc, AEA Group plc, and General Motors on a diverse range of high-profile transactions and other situations. Prior to working at BDO, Richard was Head of Pensions at Swiss Re and Partner and Lead of the corporate pension advisory practice at PwC.

This senior hire will add further momentum to Lincoln’s growth in providing pensions advisory services to corporate sponsors and other stakeholders involved with defined-benefit pension schemes. Richard’s responsibility will be to build on this progress targeting corporate sponsors of all sizes to complement Lincoln’s success advising pension scheme trustees.

Over recent years Lincoln Pensions has grown strongly, most recently opening a new office in Leeds to grow its nationwide business and help deliver its best-in-class approach to a wider range of clients, particularly in the regional marketplace. The company now advises more than 100 clients with responsibility for over £110 billion of assets and is supporting an increasing number of corporate sponsors in addition to pension schemes and their trustees.

Commenting on the appointment, Darren Redmayne, Head of Lincoln Pensions, said: “I have known and respected Richard since my time with the Pensions Regulator nearly a decade ago. He is one of the leading creative thinkers in the pensions marketplace and has been involved in some of the most innovative solutions that have helped corporate sponsors and pension schemes achieve the best outcome. We are thrilled that he is joining our team at Lincoln Pensions.”

Tony Hobman, Chairman of Lincoln Pensions’ Advisory Board (and former Chief Executive of the Pensions Regulator) added: “This appointment is a very significant development for Lincoln Pensions. Richard has extensive industry experience having worked with me at the Pensions Regulator and in high-profile leadership positions across a number of blue chip firms in the pensions industry. This broad experience deepens Lincoln’s offering and will help us secure further opportunities, particularly on the sponsor side. Defined-benefit pension liabilities and sponsor covenant are topics which continue to feature prominently on the corporate agenda, particularly as a result of the Pensions Regulator’s new funding code.”
