Lifestyle Article - Royal London announces appointment of with profits actuary

Royal London, the UK’s largest mutual life, pensions and investment company, today announces the appointment of Brian Murray to the role of With Profits Actuary. The appointment has received the required regulatory approvals so will be effective immediately.

Brian is a very experienced actuary with over 20 years in the industry, including 16 years at Royal London. He has provided excellent actuarial support to the Group, most recently through his involvement in Project Chrysalis, which led to the launch of Royal London’s unique ProfitShare arrangements last year. Brian will report to Shaun Cooper, Royal London Group’s Chief Actuary.

The role of With Profits Actuary is of fundamental importance at Royal London, playing a crucial role in the sound management of the with profits funds and ensuring bonuses, including the ProfitShare are distributed wisely and fairly.

Brian takes over from Steve Wilson who has held the role of With Profits Actuary for the last 11 years. Steve will retire in the summer but in the meantime he will continue to support Royal London on a number of important actuarial projects.
