General Insurance Article - RSA upgrades to cloud computing with Amazon Web Services

RSA, the leading international insurer, today announced that it has signed a contract with Amazon Web Services to use its cloud computing services across the Group.

The technology will initially be used to host a number of RSA and MORE TH>N websites and other digital services.

The upgrade to Amazon Web Services is a key step in RSA’s plans to increase agility and improve the range of services offered online, meaning that customers can quote, buy and change insurance policies quicker and more efficiently. Website developers within RSA will also be able to build and implement new features swiftly and efficiently without the need for external support. Other benefits include a 75 per cent reduction in the cost of running the IT infrastructure and improved stability, as a number of the systems hosted on the cloud are able to ‘self-heal’, reducing the need for intervention.

Commenting on the upgrade, Darren Price, Chief Information Officer of RSA, said:
“Ensuring our IT operates as simply and effectively as possible is a key strategic focus for us and the deployment of Amazon Web Services will enable us to achieve this. By modernising our IT estate, our computing platform will be considerably more flexible, saving us both time and money, and our customers will benefit from more efficient online services.”
