Scottish Widows has created a new specialist auto enrolment team to work with advisers and employers from the beginning of 2014, as the insurance industry gears up for the largest scale change to workplace pensions in a generation.
A dedicated team of workplace pension specialists will support Scottish Widows’ existing customer and intermediary teams across the UK, providing a coordinated and expert approach to auto enrolment.
The creation of the taskforce follows a review by Ronnie Taylor, Pensions & Investments Director into how best to support intermediary and employer customers through the establishment of stronger working relationships.
As part of the review, a strengthened leadership team and simplified structure has been created, with the clear objective of a renewed focus on supporting new and existing customers with their corporate and individual retirement needs.
Ronnie Taylor said: “By the end of 2013 we will have helped around 300 large companies work their way through auto enrolment, but the main challenge lies ahead, with smaller employers, who may lack the knowledge and expertise associated with the changes reaching their individual staging dates from as early as next year.
“Our primary objective is to support employers and advisers through this transition, helping them to navigate through the auto enrolment journey, with the end goal of ensuring that an increased number of people in the UK are saving towards a more comfortable retirement.
“It is of paramount importance that we have the right structure and strategy in place in order to deliver this.”
A new Pensions & Investments leadership team is now in place at Scottish Widows, including:
Jackie Leiper / Director of Employer Relationships
Gordon Egan / Head of IFA Sales South
Damian Coleman / Head of IFA Sales North
Tim Willis / Head of EBC Distribution
Jim McCaffrey / Head of Retirement Distribution
Simon Massey, Intermediaries Director, will not be part of the new structure and is exploring other opportunities as a result of these changes.
Ronnie Taylor commented: “Simon has played an instrumental role in building Scottish Widows into the force it is today. We have been able to develop the new strategy on that foundation and we wish him all the best for the future.”
