About the report:
Improving the inclusion and diversity of pension boards is one of the top three areas for development identified by the pensions industry1. More diverse organisations perform better as groupthink is challenged and blind spots are eliminated2. It is time for pension trustees to come together and take action.
The mallowstreet Diversity, Equality & Inclusion survey, in partnership with Cardano, will be an annual report that will identify the issues that act as a barrier to increasing diversity in institutional pensions and help the industry work together for a greater impact and better outcomes.
The survey will run until the 15th of September. The results will be shared across the regulatory and investment sectors, placing diversity, equality, and inclusion at the top of the institutional agenda.
Stuart Breyer, CEO of mallowstreet, said: This research will help empower discussion around change and progress within our industry. Good decision-making is what makes a good trustee board. We will run an annual survey to understand diversity, equality and inclusion across pension funds in the UK. This research, in partnership with Cardano, will help to shed light on one of the key governance issues for trustees. We will make our findings available for free, as it is our goal to help the pensions industry move forward on this important issue.
Kerrin Rosenberg, CEO of Cardano Investment, said: The goal of this research is to proactively support pension trustees. The Pensions Regulator has set bold new ambitions for diversity, equality and inclusion, to not only address inequality among savers, but also create a fairer and more inclusive industry culture. Given their strategy, we at Cardano wanted to create a platform for engaging industry dialogue, as well as proactively help trustees to take meaningful steps in increasing diversity and inclusion on their boards. We are excited to have partnered with mallowstreet on such an important initiative.
