The Olympic flame will pass through Greater Manchester’s most famous landmarks and areas of natural beauty. The Olympic torch comes to Manchester this summer as inspirational local residents carry it through it the city streets ahead of London 2012.
The Olympic Torch Relay goes through Manchester on Saturday 23 June and Sunday 24 June. The torch relay will come into Manchester from Salford at 5.38pm on Saturday 23 June and will travel along Elizabeth Street , Queens Road and Cheetham Hill Road before a 15-minute stop outside the Co-Op Corporation Street Store (opp Victoria train station) at about 6PM
The Torch will then pass through Manchester 's official London 2012 Live Site: Exchange Square before moving along Deansgate and Whitworth Street West . The Torch will make a short stop at the Alan Turing Statue in Sackville Gardens on Sackville Street before going continuing along Nicholas Street and Cooper Street to arrive in Albert Square at 6.50pm as part of the Evening Celebration.

Manchester is one of 66 locations across the UK , and one of only two places in Greater Manchester, that has been chosen to host an official evening celebration.
So get involved and make your way to Albert Square and see a free spectacular show with live music and high energy performances.
To celebrate the arrival of the Olympic Torch in Manchester, there will be a free spectacular show on Saturday 23 June with live music and high energy performances.
Indie band The Courteeners and The Halle Youth Choir will top an evening of free entertainment as the Olympic Torchis carried into Manchester City Centre. The show will also feature performances from dance duo Twist and Pulse, who reached the finals of Britain's Got Talent, and up and coming band The Tribes.
British Olympic champion cyclist Sir Chris Hoy will be welcomed onto the stage to talk about what the forthcoming sporting event means to him.
Finally, the Olympic flame will be brought onto the stage, carried by Levenshulme's Carl Tilson, who formerly won the Mancunian of the Year award for the fundraising work he has done for fellow sufferers of the muscle-wasting condition duchenne muscular dystrophy.
