We have a range of things available in London for this weekend so lets hope the sun shines through.
TROOPING THE COLOUR
Enjoyed all the pageantry from the Jubilee then you have to love this yearly festival Trooping the Colour for the Queens birthday. Just pick a spot along the route from Buckingham Pallace. The Colour will be Trooped by 1st Battalion Coldstream Guards. A 41-Gun Royal Salute by the King’s Troop RHA in Green Park at 1252 hours and 62-Guns by the HAC at the Tower of London at 1300 hours.
London Zoo, yes the Zoo but did you know it's the oldest scientific zoo in the world, no we didnt either, however, visit the zoo from a little known way and avoid even more tourists when getting in. Take a boat from Camden lock and get in via the canal entrance for just 2 quid more than the usual price. No we did'nt know that either
St James's Park. My personal favourite of all the inner London parks and not only because it has Pelicans, yes Pelicans plus Horseguards as a backdrop and the picture opportunity that is the lake bridge plus you can still avoid the majority of the tourists by heading towards the south-west corner of the park for a bit of peice and quiet.
The Globe. A rarity in London somewhere that attracts as many tourists and locals in equal numbers. There's been a theatre here in one form or another, built burnt or plain pulled down in the case of the Puritans, since
If the weather is kind, unlikely for a British summer granted but you never know, then how about a terrace bar. Try Aqua Nueva & Aqua Kyoto terrace bars on the 5th Floor, 240 Regent Street. Film set looks with the London skyline as a backdrop makes the exotic cocktails taste even better, the Kyoto has Sake as well if you fancy that. Great views and prices not that bad for Central London at £9.50 a cocktail.
Just want a good pub thats not busting at the seams with tourists, try Ye Olde Mitre Tavern built in 1546 is a 3 room bar fronted by an enclosed courtyard, loads of real ales such as George Gale Seafarers or Adnams Broadside. Good atmosphere and good beers.
