General Insurance Article - Top management shuffle at Legal & General

Jim Islam, formerly the Finance director for Legal & General’s Savings Division will succeed Diane Buckley who is moving to head up Legal & General’s General Insurance business. The moves are part of a general reshuffle of managing directors across the business.

As Finance director for Legal & General’s Savings Division, Islam developed the strategic plan to position the business to take full advantage of the opportunities resulting from the Retail Distribution Review and Workplace Pensions Automatic Enrolment. He was also instrumental in transforming the Division’s financial performance.

Jim is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (USA) and Fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries.

Commenting on his appointment, Islam said “I am delighted to be joining the Group Protection team and excited about the opportunities for the business. There is a wide variety of issues facing workplaces today and this year we have many new exciting product developments which will further help employers offer greater support to their staff. I look forward to continuing the excellent work that Diane Buckley has done to increase awareness of ‘Stress in the City’ and the importance of early intervention in tackling absence.”
