General Insurance Article - Towers Watson further strengthens its RCS business

Towers Watson has strengthened its Risk Consulting and Software (RCS) business leadership team as it pursues its medium-term strategy for fulfilling the growing market demand for integrated, insurance-specific advisory and technology solutions.

Following the recent promotion of Michael Murphy to Global Head of RCS – the company’s insurance advisory, solutions and software practice, from 1 July, Frank Schepers has been appointed to succeed him as Regional Leader for Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA). Mr Schepers is currently Divisional Leader for RCS in Northern and Central Europe and the German office leader.

 Michael Murphy said:
“Issues associated with future insurance business growth, regulation, customer centricity, ‘big data’ and software-as-a-service are just some of the market factors shaping our business approach going forward and who we want at the helm. Frank’s appointment is recognition of the strong market and business leadership he has demonstrated in Northern and Central Europe in recent years, especially in Germany.”

In addition, Towers Watson confirmed a number of senior appointments in its regional and local RCS practice, which also take effect on 1 July:

  1.   Graham Fulcher has been appointed to a new role as RCS UK & Ireland Divisional Leader.
  2.
  3.   Karl Murphy succeeds Graham Fulcher as EMEA Regional Sales and Practice Leader for property and casualty (P&C) business, alongside Claire Farrelly who is assuming the same role for the life insurance practice.
  4.
  5.   Harm Blaak, currently Netherlands office leader, takes over the additional role of North and Central European Divisional Leader.
  6.
  7.   Tammy Richardson moves in to Karl Murphy’s former role as UK P&C Leader.
  8.
  9.   David Ovenden succeeds Tammy Richardson as UK Insurance Management Consulting leader, as well as continuing to run the P&C Underwriting business.
These appointments follow the arrival of Frédéric Traimond in March, who joined Towers Watson from PwC as French office leader and South West Europe Divisional leader.

 Frank Schepers noted:
“Alongside our core actuarial and analytical services, the nature and range of business and software solutions being sought by our insurance clients around Europe has evolved, even over the last couple of years. These changes in our leadership team are all about ensuring we can bring new ideas to the table at a senior level.”
