Jim Islam is currently Head of Group Finance at Lloyd’s of London where he’s been since November 2016. Prior to that, Jim worked at Legal & General for several years in senior roles, including CEO of L&G Unit Trusts, and MD of Corporate Business Division which covered L&G’s workplace pensions and group protection business lines in the UK and France. In these roles, he developed and transformed market leading and digitally enabled businesses, including their pensions auto-enrolment proposition.
Jim is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (USA) and a Fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries.
Speaking of his appointment he said: “B&CE has played a key role in the success of auto-enrolment pensions in the UK. With over 4 million members in The People’s Pension, the organisation will continue to influence and drive the provision of workplace solutions which are simple to understand and deliver better outcomes. I’m really looking forward to playing my part in that.”
Jim McKinnon brings a wealth of information technology & business experience to the board having spent more than 40 years at The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co, most recently in the role of Chief Information Officer, based in Ohio, USA. Since returning to the UK, Jim undertakes a number of roles including Trustee & Director at Compton Care Group Ltd as well as a voluntary business mentor with The Prince’s Trust.
Commenting on his appointment he said: “I’m really excited to be joining the board to help B&CE continue meeting people's financial needs in a simple way, putting their members at the heart of what they do. B&CE has an exciting vision for the future, which I’m looking forward to being involved in.”
Both will take up their roles over the summer.
